# What are the main components of the OPTOVERA Device?

## The Visor blocks external light; the managed smartphone runs the Scan.

The OPTOVERA Device has two main components: the Visor and the dedicated smartphone.

1. The Visor. The Visor is an opaque, 3D-printed housing. It is designed to fit over the User’s eyes and block outside light during the Scan. This controlled dark environment is important because OPTOVERA measures the pupil’s response to a specific light stimulus. By reducing the effect of surrounding light, the Visor helps the Device perform the Scan under consistent conditions.
2. The dedicated smartphone. Inside the Visor, the Device uses a preconfigured smartphone to run the OPTOVERA software and record the pupillary response during the Scan. The smartphone is not used as a general-purpose mobile phone. It is configured as a dedicated testing component and secured through Mobile Device Management (MDM) so that only approved software can run on it.

The approved software available to customers includes:

- OPTOVERA Device software.
- Ookla SpeedTest, used for internet diagnostics.

This configuration helps keep the Device focused on testing, supports secure operation, and reduces the risk of unauthorized use.
