# How are alert recipients configured?

## Configure recipients, contact details, monitored groups, and triggering result events.

Alert recipients are configured in the Alerts section of the OPTOVERA dashboard.

Administrators can create alert configurations to define who should receive notifications, which groups they should monitor, and which result events should trigger an alert.

The basic workflow is:

1. Open the Alerts submenu.
2. Click the add option.
3. Enter the name of the person or distribution list receiving the alert.
4. Enter the email address.
5. Add the phone number if the alert should also be sent by WhatsApp.
6. Select the groups monitored by that alert.
7. Select the result event that should trigger the alert.
8. Save the alert configuration.

Alerts can be sent by email or by email and WhatsApp together, depending on the configuration.

Alerts can be configured for different result events, including:

- All Within Baseline Range and Alteration Detected results.
- All Alteration Detected results.
- Only Alteration Confirmed results.
- Only Alteration Not Verified results.

The system regularly verifies that the alert contact is still current by sending a verification message. If no response is received, the alert is disabled.

Alert recipients should be reviewed regularly to make sure the correct supervisors or authorized personnel receive notifications for the correct groups.
