# What are alerts?

## Configured result events trigger notifications by email or email with WhatsApp.

Alerts are notifications that can be configured in the OPTOVERA dashboard to inform predefined recipients when selected result events occur.

Alerts can be sent by email or by email and WhatsApp together, depending on the contact information and configuration entered in the dashboard. Email alerts are delivered through Amazon Web Services and WhatsApp alerts through Meta’s WhatsApp service; both act as SOBEREYE Subprocessors under the Data Processing Agreement. Choosing WhatsApp delivery is a Customer configuration decision.

Administrators can manage alerts from the Alerts section of the dashboard. When creating an alert, the administrator can define who should receive the notification, enter the recipient’s contact information, select the relevant groups, and choose which result event should trigger the alert.

Alerts can be configured for different result events, including:

- All Within Baseline Range and Alteration Detected results.
- All Alteration Detected results.
- Only Alteration Confirmed results.
- Only Alteration Not Verified results.

Alerts can also be configured so that supervisors or authorized personnel receive notifications only for the groups they are responsible for. This helps make sure that the right people receive result notifications for their assigned area.

The system regularly verifies that the alert contact is still current by sending a verification message. If no response is received, the alert is disabled. This helps prevent alerts from being sent to outdated or inactive contacts.

If a Device is offline, alerts are sent only after the Device synchronizes and the result reaches the cloud platform.

Alerts support the organization’s safety workflow by helping supervisors or authorized personnel receive timely result notifications. They do not identify the cause of a result, and they do not replace the organization’s internal procedures, supervisor review, or confirmation workflow.
