# What are the most common mistakes during a test?

## Blinking, movement, unsuitable lighting, and an unprepared Device can disrupt testing.

The most common mistakes are related to User readiness, eye position, movement, lighting conditions, and Device readiness.

Common User-related mistakes include:

- Testing immediately after coming from a very bright environment.
- Starting the test while rushed, uncomfortable, or not calm.
- Selecting the wrong username at the start of the test.
- Blinking during the 4-second video capture.
- Closing the eyes during the video capture.
- Keeping the eyes only partially open.
- Looking to the side instead of straight ahead.
- Moving the eyes quickly from side to side.
- Removing or moving the Device before the test is complete.

Common lighting-related mistakes include:

- Capturing baseline measurements when ambient light is above 1,000 lux.
- Not checking the lux measurement on the Device home screen before baseline testing.
- Testing immediately after exposure to very bright light, such as outdoor sunlight, bright loading bays, or vehicle environments.

Common operational mistakes include:

- Testing with a Device that has not been synchronized.
- Testing with an outdated user list.
- Not checking connectivity when synchronization is needed.
- Not synchronizing the Device after a PIN reset, so the reset has not yet reached that Device.

If any of these issues prevent the Device from capturing a valid measurement, the test may need to be repeated.
