[Understanding Results](https://knowledge.sobereye.com/en/understanding-results?hsLang=en) # What is a baseline measurement result? ## An accepted baseline measurement contributes to learning, not a conclusive Scan result. A baseline measurement result confirms that the Scan was completed successfully and was accepted as part of the User’s individual baseline. During baseline acquisition, successful measurements help OPTOVERA establish the User’s normal pupillary response profile. This individual baseline is later used as the reference for comparing future Scans. A baseline measurement result is not a Within Baseline Range or Alteration Detected result. It only means that the measurement was valid, accepted, and contributed to building the User’s baseline. Testing conditions are especially important during baseline acquisition because the baseline becomes the reference for future comparisons. Baseline measurements should be captured only in low or normal indoor light, below 1,000 lux. The ambient light level can be checked on the Device home screen before the Scan.
