# Does OPTOVERA identify the cause of an Alteration Detected result?

## A detected alteration identifies a response change, not its cause.

No. OPTOVERA does not identify the cause of an Alteration Detected result.

An Alteration Detected result means that OPTOVERA detected a significant alteration in the User’s pupillary response compared with the User’s individual baseline. It indicates that the response was different from what is normally expected for that User and that the result should be reviewed according to the organization’s internal safety procedure.

A pupillary response can be affected by many different factors, and OPTOVERA does not determine which factor, or combination of factors, may be involved.

Possible factors that may affect a pupillary response include, for example:

- Fatigue or sleep loss.
- Reduced alertness.
- Stress or nervous system activation.
- Medication effects.
- Alcohol or drug influence.
- Medical or neurological conditions.
- Other short-term physiological changes.

These are examples of possible factors only. OPTOVERA does not identify, confirm, or diagnose any of them.

The purpose of an Alteration Detected result is to provide an objective safety signal before the User begins or continues safety-sensitive work. The result supports a review process, but it does not replace the organization’s procedures, supervisor judgment, qualified personnel review, or any applicable legal or workplace requirements.

Any follow-up action should be handled by the organization according to its internal safety procedure.
