How Does the Optovera Device Connectivity Work?
Syncing results and users via Wi-Fi or client-provided SIM card.
The Optovera device is designed for flexible connectivity according to client needs. By default, devices are delivered without a SIM card or mobile data plan. Internet access can be established in two ways:
-
Wi-Fi: using the client’s own network.
-
SIM card: clients may insert their own SIM card with a data plan if mobile connectivity is needed.
Connectivity during testing
-
The test can be executed with or without an internet connection.
-
If connected (Wi-Fi or client SIM):
-
Results are synced automatically to the cloud platform.
-
Supervisors can view results in real time on the dashboard.
-
-
If offline:
-
Results are stored locally on the dedicated smartphone.
-
Sync happens automatically once connectivity is restored.
-
Connectivity for user updates
-
Every time a new worker is enrolled on the dashboard, the device must connect to the internet to download the updated user list.
-
The device communicates with the client’s domain to ensure only authorized users appear.
-
Without connection, new users will not be available until sync is completed.
Why connectivity matters in HSE
-
Enables real-time information, reducing wait times and speeding up decision-making.
-
Allows supervisors to act preventively by checking results immediately.
-
Ensures smooth enrollment of new workers without operational delays.
Best practices for HSE supervisors
-
Set up a stable and secure Wi-Fi network at each checkpoint.
-
In field operations with no Wi-Fi, consider using a client SIM card with a data plan.
-
Check daily to ensure the device has synced all results with the platform.
Conclusion
Optovera devices come without SIM or data plan but offer dual connectivity through Wi-Fi or client SIM. This flexibility ensures all test results and user lists are always updated — enabling faster, more efficient risk management.
