Step-by-Step Guide to the Optovera Test
Practical guide for proper test execution.
The Optovera test is designed to be simple, fast, and repeatable. Below are the steps a worker should follow to complete the measurement correctly.
1. Preparation
-
Remove helmets, glasses, or other items that may interfere with the visor.
-
Ensure the device is charged and turned on.
-
Confirm the visor is clean and in good condition.
2. Putting on the visor
-
The worker holds the device and fits it firmly on the face.
-
Make sure no external light enters: the visor must be well sealed.
3. Dark adaptation (60 seconds)
-
Once the visor is in place, a 1-minute countdown starts in complete darkness.
-
During this time, the worker’s pupils dilate in preparation.
-
The worker must remain still and relaxed.
4. Light stimulus and recording (4 seconds)
-
After adaptation, the internal light activates for 4 seconds.
-
The worker must:
-
Keep eyes fully open.
-
Look straight ahead without shifting gaze.
-
Avoid blinking during those 4 seconds.
-
-
A video of the pupil’s response is recorded.
5. Data processing
-
The device analyzes key pupil reflex parameters (initial diameter, amplitude, latency, speed).
-
Results are automatically compared to the worker’s personal baseline.
6. Immediate result
-
In seconds, a result appears: Fit or Unfit.
-
If “Unfit,” it is recommended to repeat the test a few minutes later.
7. Data synchronization
-
If online, results are automatically uploaded to the Optovera cloud.
-
If offline, they’re stored and synced later.
Conclusion
The Optovera test is a standardized 1-minute + 4-second procedure designed to deliver fast, reliable results. By following these steps, HSE supervisors ensure valid measurements that support preventive risk control.
