What is OPTOVERA?

An objective readiness signal and five modules support preventive workplace safety.

OPTOVERA is an operational-readiness and safety decision-support platform for safety-sensitive operations. The platform helps organizations add an objective pre-shift screening step before work begins, so supervisors and qualified personnel can identify potential readiness risks and follow the organization’s safety procedures.

The OPTOVERA platform is organized around five modules:

  1. OPTOVERA Scan — the core 60-second eye scan.
  2. OPTOVERA Checklist — a digital checklist that supports policy-based follow-up actions.
  3. OPTOVERA Predict — a fatigue-risk prediction module.
  4. OPTOVERA Analytics — reporting and trend analysis.
  5. OPTOVERA Connect — integration with customer systems.

OPTOVERA Scan measures the Pupillary Light Reflex (PLR), the involuntary change in pupil diameter in response to changes in light. During the Scan, the Device creates controlled dark conditions, applies a brief light stimulus, and records how the pupil responds.

Because PLR is regulated by the autonomic nervous system, changes in the pupillary response can provide an objective signal related to a worker’s readiness state, including alertness and readiness for safety-sensitive work. When a worker has an established individual baseline, OPTOVERA compares the current Scan with that baseline to identify significant deviations that may indicate elevated safety risk.

OPTOVERA is not a medical diagnostic tool. It does not identify the cause of a result or make decisions on behalf of the employer. Its results are intended to support review by qualified personnel as part of the organization’s broader safety process.
