What happens at a User’s first Scan?

Each User chooses PIN or optional iris recognition at the first assessment.

At the first assessment, each User chooses on the Device how their Scans will be associated with their record. Both methods are available to every User, and the choice does not affect how the Scan is performed or how the result is interpreted.

  • PIN. The User sets their own six-digit PIN on the Device. The Device rejects a PIN made of the same digit repeated, such as 111111, or of sequential digits, ascending or descending, such as 123456 or 654321. No other rule applies.
  • Optional one-to-one iris recognition. The User selects Use Iris Recognition.

The User makes this choice freely. Supervisors should not suggest, recommend, or require either method. No administrator, supervisor, or SOBEREYE personnel sets, issues, or can view a PIN at any point, so the User must set it personally on the Device.

The first Scan then continues as described in Question 1 and counts toward the User’s baseline.
