How long does the test take?

The Scan takes about 60 seconds; username selection and any PIN entry precede the countdown.

An OPTOVERA Scan takes about 60 seconds.

Before the countdown, the User selects their username and, if they chose PIN, enters their PIN, then taps Check. These steps take place on the lit screen before the countdown begins, so they do not lengthen the measurement.

The User then places the Device over the eyes. The Visor creates a controlled dark environment and the Device starts a 60-second countdown. During this countdown, the User keeps the eyes closed so the pupils can dilate under consistent conditions. The countdown is the same in both association methods.

At the end of the countdown, the Device instructs the User to open the eyes wide and look straight ahead. The Device then activates an internal light and records a 4-second video of the pupillary response.

During the 4-second video capture, the User must keep the eyes fully open, look straight ahead, and avoid blinking or moving the eyes from side to side. If the measurement fails, the test must be repeated.

For baseline measurements, the 60-second countdown is sufficient when the baseline is captured in low or normal indoor light, below 1,000 lux. Very bright exposure before testing may require more time for the pupils to re-dilate, so Users should not test immediately after coming from a very bright environment.

The lux measurement can be checked on the Device home screen before baseline testing. If a baseline test is taken in lighting conditions above 1,000 lux, the baseline measurement is discarded and is not registered in the platform.
