What lighting conditions are recommended for the test?

Controlled Device lighting standardizes the Scan; baseline measurements require suitable ambient light.

OPTOVERA standardizes the Scan by controlling the lighting conditions inside the Device. The Visor creates a dark, uniform field over the eyes, the Device uses a 60-second dark-adaptation countdown, and then applies a controlled light stimulus.

The goal is to keep the starting condition and the light stimulus as consistent as possible, so changes in the PLR measurement reflect the User’s response rather than the surrounding environment.

For baseline measurements, ambient light is especially important. Baseline measurements should be captured only in low or normal indoor light, below 1,000 lux. The ambient light level, in lux, can be read on the Device home screen before the Scan.

Very bright exposure before the Scan can affect the starting condition. For example, a User coming directly from outdoor sunlight, a bright loading bay, or a vehicle in strong daylight may need more time for the pupils to re-dilate. If a test starts before the pupils have returned to the expected starting condition, the result may be inconsistent.

For this reason, Users should not test immediately after coming from a very bright environment, especially during baseline acquisition. They should wait until they are comfortable, calm, and in appropriate lighting conditions before starting the Scan.
