What should a supervisor do after an Alteration Detected result?
Follow the safety procedure and arrange the repeat within 30 minutes.
After an Alteration Detected result, the supervisor should follow the organization’s internal safety procedure.
The result should be treated as an objective safety signal that requires review. It should not be treated as a diagnosis, proof of impairment, or automatic decision about the User’s ability to work.
Recommended steps include:
- Treat the result as a safety signal that requires review.
- Do not treat the result as a diagnosis, proof of impairment, or confirmation of any specific cause.
- Confirm that the User understands the Device instruction to wait before repeating the test.
- Make sure the confirmation measurement is performed within the confirmation window, usually after 10 to 20 minutes and no later than 30 minutes after the initial result.
- Ensure that the User is calm and comfortable before the confirmation measurement.
- Confirm that the User selects their own username, that the Device is positioned correctly, and that the User follows the correct eye technique: eyes fully open, looking straight ahead, without blinking or moving the eyes from side to side during the 4-second video capture.
- For baseline-related situations, confirm that lighting conditions are appropriate and that ambient light is below 1,000 lux.
- Review the classification: the pair is Alteration Confirmed if the repeat also returns Alteration Detected within 30 minutes, or Within Baseline Range if the repeat returns Within Baseline Range within 30 minutes. The final classification is assigned to the second result; the first is labeled Retested and is not counted separately. If no repeat is completed within 30 minutes, the first result is Alteration Not Verified.
- Follow the organization’s internal procedure for any work assignment, temporary restriction, additional review, escalation, or other required action.
OPTOVERA supports the safety review process but does not make the decision for the organization.
